I got a wild hair you know where to go out and tinker with my '78 L-48 car so I found a set of Mr. Gasket advance curve springs and set my timing according to the paper. My issue was that the pivot bushings for the stock weights were not reusable so I installed the weights (which feel much lighter than stock) and bushings included with the Mr. Gasket kit with the light springs and get 36 degrees of advance at about 3600rpm, instead of 2500 - 2800 rpm.

So.. Where in the world do buy replacement bushings for the original equipment? Every place I have book marked sells the Mr Gasket/MSD/Spectre advance curve kits and google isn't being friendly.

Any help is appreciated!!

I'd be interested too. Never was able to find the originals that fit. Always the bigger ones that they sell with the kits that don't fit original weights.

I just went to advance, and called Napa. Both said this item was not in stock, and they could not order it. Believe that! Napa advised me to go directly to a GM Dealership/Stealership........ Urghhhh..

DG13 is a borg warner number called oreillys and they have them.dont know if they fit? ill bet they do

You could just throw your 78 dist away and buy the ebay $54 dist and call it a day.

I already have a MALLORY, that I'm selling, and I just received a 77 dizzy that LARS performed work on. I just want the bushings to be new, since I will be replacing the cam/timing chain/ and water pump.

What can he possibly do to a dist that takes more than 5 mins?
The ebay dist has a brass insert cap, 65000 volt coil, a timing curve from hell, and a polished housing all for $54.
My timing with one is 15 unplugged, and 36 plugged to full vacuum which equals 51 total.

My recurve implemented by a speed shop in Tampa back around year 2000 has the full 36 degrees occurring at 2500rpm. Makes for a very responsive GO pedal!!! The recurve alone accounted for a huge improvement off the line.

Well it has everything yours has, but also the "slop" "play" has been taken out of it. I myself like to work on my car. I like to tinker with it. LARS is a very knowledgeable person. I would take his work over an over the counter brand any day when it comes to our vette's. You are correct that the dizzy you have for $54 is great = just drop it in n go. But like I said the more I learn on how my car runs the more I am able to gain more ponies from it. Even if it's just a half a pony. It all adds up at the end. As some others have said to me it's not the detination, it's the journey.
