Default L-88 hood clearance

Hi guys,
im planning my corvette project.

I have a 406 sbc ready to drop in a vette pretty soon. Car will be a 71 (still waiting on the confirmation of the purchase)

The 406 have dart pro1 head with a dart intake manifold, hvh 2 inch carb spacer and on top of it a Quick Fuel carb (4150).

Does someone know if i buy a L88 hood from ecklers im gonna have enough clearance and if i will be able to put an air filter.

Should i buy a long or standard hood? is their any other brand of "L88" hood that offer more clearance?

thanks!

I have a somewhat similar setup with a bbc. I doubt you will fit that combo with a 2" spacer.

No room for the 2 inch carb spacer. You could give your intake height info. You can get a taller hood, though the L-88 hood is going to look tall enough esp. for a SB.

This is my 406,....not quite what you have, but the idea is similar. The RPM intake, Quick Fuel carb, and 4 inch KNN filter I have should be pretty close in height to what you are planning. I ran the same setup under my stock 80 hood but with a two inch filter element for years.

Vanacor is the only vender I have found that makes an L88 high rise hood, that should fit this,...and that is the one I plan to use. It's supposedly two inches taller than most other aftermarket L88 hoods.

I still have a few odds and ends to finish up before I get to ordering my hood,..but as it stands that is the hood I plan on using.

I was just checking mine out tonight I have a dart intake 4150 no spacer on the long l88 ecklers hood and have about an inch from the vent tubes with the hood closed. Those dart intakes are tall and I wish I had the vanacor hood. My car is a 71, bbc though, it would be worth the wait if there is one for the taller hood cause I would imagine I'll loose a little running a 2" filter. I'm going to order a k&n with the filter top the PO removed the duct work in the hood.
