just sorta curious. not sure what my 79 L-82 weighs but i would like to find out, and get an idea what the other year vettes weigh. if i remember right, theyre pretty heavy for a fiberglass car. thanks all :cheers:

MY 1966 convertable wieghs 3,080 Lbs, without me in it.....427, Alum heads,alum intake, mini starter, no spare ,no jack, & no spare carrier ...only P/S , side exhaust , 4 speed,,,,,,wieghed her at drags on electronic scale....when the water pump goes will be replaced by alum one...the diet goes on :crazy: if it was so easy for me :) :seeya :flag

My 78 Silver L-48 4-speed weighs 3480lbs. I weighed it at a local business that has a truck scale. The car is stock and I didn't have anything else in the car. :flag

my car weighs 3420lbs this with half tank of gas ,aluminum intake,aluminum heads,and headers,flexfan,centerline wheels and no driver,but has pb,pl,pw,ac auto trans and spare tire.

sharklover, am i to assume your car doesnt have many weight reducing parts on it? so i can figure that my L-82 (1979) weighs around 3300lbs also? thanks :chevy

I'm on a serious diet now hope I'll cut of some serious weight. It was around 1640 kilos with half tank of gas, before the diet. We'll see how it turns out. :cheers:

3260lbs on a truck scale, small block, Aluminum heads, no spare, steel spring.

I always wonder tho how accurate those truck scales are at low weights like that... I mean 10% is 320 lbs!

That's probably pretty close. About the only thing is no A.I.R. pump, which doesn't save much. I also have true dual exhaust, which you might think would add weight but the cat and Y-pipes were so heavy that the duals might actually save a couple pounds. Can't really think of much else. But as mentioned earlier, it's also hard to tell how accurate the truck scale would be at such a light weight.

I had the same question so typed it into google.com and according to Idaho Corvette, the stock 79 weighed 3,503 lbs.

My '81 has AL heads, electric fans, lighter wheels/tires and significant suspension modifications (though there was little emphasis on loosing sprung weight) and it tips the scales at 3,180 pounds with 1/4 tank (8 gal) of fuel. Further- its 1,580 lbs front and 1,600 lbs rear -> almost 50/50 f/r

Probably around 3250 ta 3300 lbs.
....most '68s weigh less than other C3's ! :lol:
