The engine: SB 350.
Intake manifold: Edelbrock Torker II

I currently have a holley Carb on the engine. I don't know what model or anything, I didn't see any indication on the carb itself. I'm very engine and engine component illiterate.

So my question is if you can tell what carb I have based on the picture? Is there a better Edelbrock carb I could get? (performance wise) My car is strictly joy riding and just overall cruising. Will a new carb provide any kind of performance increase that is noticeable?

Oh, a little off topic, does anyone know the best way to clean up my intake manifold/valve covers? They use to be shiney.......

Its a 600 vacuum secondary Holley.
I would keep it and stay away from the Edekbrock carbs.
Also I would get another intake like a Edelbrock performer or RPM, or a similar knock off duel plane intake.
Weiand makes some nice intakes as does Summit.

The rectangular "box" that sticks up above the carb (the highest part) is called the air horn. There is a number on the front or back called the "LIST" number. You can ID the exact carb using that number. Post it on here and somebody will look it up for you.

Judging from the buildup of gum on the choke plate, I would buy a can of spray carburetor cleaner and do a good cleanup on the primary side of the carb. There are small air bleed holes that you will see when you look down the throat of the carb, make sure you spray them well. You probably should wear some eye protection when doing this because if it splashes back and hits your eyes, it hurrtttss!

I can't view the pic or pics that you posted, so I can't help you there, as far as identifying it, but you should probably think about just rebuilding the carb you have now. Carburetors don't really "wear out" for a long, long time, they just get all gummed up, and start to leak, that sort of thing. Take it apart, clean it, and reassemble it using a rebuild kit, and it will most likely run like new. Holley carburetors are very simple to work on, and there are plenty of sites on the web that will walk you thru it. Here's a few links so you can see what you will be getting yourself into.

That's what polished aluminum looks like when it corrodes. It starts to corrode as soon as you're finished polishing. You might be able to still polish them by hand with a product like Flitz or something with a compound in it, but you'll have to take them off to do a proper job (IMO).

The Torker II is the worst of both worlds - open plenum, low rise.

Fitting under the stock hood is the challenge...

Yes... and I agree with you. But in terms of identifying all of the correct parts for it, you need to look it up by the list number.

Just the fact hes running an Edelbrock torker intake with a 600 Holley should throw up a red flag!

Its like when someone says they are using 235/60 tires, no matter what the car is its the wrong size for anything!
