SLP Corvette ZR1 Style Wheels, 17" x 8",
Does anyone have experence with these wheels by SLP?
I'm thinking about a set for my 1975 Sting Ray.
Looking fot optimum tire size and workman ship of the wheel.

These are like some of the rims on the 98 Vetts
Thanks
Ralph

You have to look at the backspacing. Stock C3 backspacing is about 4 inches. The wheels you are looking at have way more than 4 inches so you are getting into having to use an adaptor and trying to find one the correct size.

These wheels are made for the C3. They look like newer style wheels.
They are 1 inch wider than stock and have the correct off set built in.
I am hopeing to find someone else who is running them to heare what they say.
At $200.00 a piece plus $120.00 in shipping they have to be right and what I want.

SLP comes to Carlisle almost every year and has brought some of these wheels with them. They look excellent and according to the SLP folks fit the C3's just fine.
I believe there is someone here on the FORUM that is running them and has spoken very well of them.
Good luck... GUSTO

I have run the satin finished version of these wheels. They fit perfectly with the 4" bs they are designed with. The set I have are 17"x8" at each corner. There are 245/45 z-rated BFG's mounted on them.
This is an old picture of my car:
A fine wheel and one of the reasons I switched them out was to run 18" wheels with a wider tire in the rear. These are now stacked in my shop for ? project.

The SLP rims fit perfectly-zero modifications! No offset issues etc-one of the reasons I bought mine 3 years ago on sale from Midamerica for all 4 for $700 and free shipping-They were a buy! I run 255/45/17 ZR's ultra high performance summer only tires-would never go back to 15 inch 255 tires. Unbelieveable difference!

Well I ordered a set today, they will be here in a week.
So what tire best fills the wheel well, and looks like a tire on the rim and not an "0" ring.

I run kuhmo Ecsta SPT's which are a Z rated (w sub rating-168 MPH), ultra high performance summer only tire with a AA traction rating (highest rating), A temperature rating and a treadwear of 400-all pretty good specs for about $120 per tire. I use 255/45/17's in front and 255/50/17's in the rear. I think either one looks good but use the 255/50 in the rear since I have 3.70 gears with the 4 speed and did not want a tire diameter smaller than the OEM 255/60/15 which would raise the numerical gears (3.70's) in the rear. The 255/45,50/17's are a much squarer tire than the 255/60/15's and are actually much wider than a 255/60/15-section width due to the tire construction-nothing rubs, front or rear! An added benefit is that the car sits slightly pitched forward ^with the 2 different tire sizes which I especially like since the 78/79's always looks like the they sag in the rear. If I did not have the gear ratio problem, I probably would have used 255/45/17's all the way around!

I can't decide if I like these or not (all a matter of opinion, no offense meant). I'm not a big fan of the bright polished or chrome 17's that you see normally, but I do want to lose the poor performing 15" wheels.

I like 'em- they all look great.
If someone wants larger wheels than stock w/o being too noticeable 17s are great w/ 255/50/17 the right dia. Evidently they are saying a little smaller is needed in front for clearance.
Al. would not be too noticeable compared to chrome.

I feel that the chrome is needed to help set off the darker color.
If I would keep it white then I would agree that the chrome would be a little to much.

Corvette Fever did a project car with these wheels and said they are running 275/45/17's all around. I wouldn't think that would fit in the front. Does anyone know if the 275's would fit in the rear and just throw 255's on the front?

Personally the 275/45/17's are really not much wider than the 255/45/17 ZR's and I would not want the extra sidewall that comes with the 275/45/17's. One of the goals of going to the 17's was to have an ultra high performance tire with miminal sidewall to eliminate sidewall flex and improve handling-wider alone is usually NOT better but also to be lower profile tire with performance rubber and stronger tire construction.
