Rag Joint vs. Borgeson Single Universal Joint
Hello,
I have to change my Rag Joint because itīs bad.
I heared about an alternative from Borgeson :
Single Universal Joint.
Any opinions and experience with this joint ? Disadvantages ?
My car is a ī69 with original steering box, tilt & tele column and PS .

The following are comments on the use of a universal joint in place of a flexible steering shaft coupling assembly.

However, I need to add one comment. Flexible steering shaft coupling assemblies are becoming more and more difficult to obtain. As these parts disappear a single universal joint may be the only alternative to keep a vehicle running. I would just caution that because of the unforgiving nature of a universal joint, if you must use one in your C2/C3 Corvette, regularly inspect the lower end of the steering column and inspect the bearing that is mounted in the steering column next to the flexible coupling.

Since there is some flexibility in steering shaft alignment do you think it is possible to align the column so that there is minimal stress on the lower bearing?

You can align the column to the gear. However, you have frame flex and body to frame movement. Early Vettes had solid body to frame mounts so that body movement is probably minimal. Later Vettes (I don't remember the exact years) had rubber mounts that can settle with age and allow some motion.
