Default True dual exhaust

What kind of exhaust worked best for you guys? X pipes, H pipes, straight dual exhaust? I'm thinking of getting some flowmaster 50 series, whats the verdit on those? And does anyone know how restrictive is the original Y pipe and catalitic converter?

Those mufflers are fine. Also Dynomax.

My combo: Hooker headers, 2.5 exhaust from front to back, no cats, h-pipe, dynomax mufflers....sounds bitchin' and frees up a lot of power

ANY kind of true duals will be a HUGE improvement over the 2 Y System.....I run 2 1/2" Chambered Pipes (NO MUFFLERS!). Scares the HELL out of little kids and ol' Ladies......also lots of fun to set off car alarms at Wal-Mart....... :D :D :D

straight dual exhaust by all means unless you have to pass emmissions.

Moskovita thats a nice looking neat exhaust system. I'm running 2 1/2" stainless pipes and mufflers. No cats. I like the S.S. beause it always looks new no rusty mufflers showing under the car. Mine have been on the car 15 years. Chuck

I have true duals with mufflers. It's a real hillbilly job, pieced together with lord only knows what. But it sounds very nice. And all things considered, it looks good too.

I have stock manifolds, 2.5" true dual, no cats, H-pipe, and FlowMaster DeltaFlow 50 series. I've gotten a ton of compliments on the way the car sounds. Here is a vid of it on the dyno.

OK, VIDEO GOT DELETED DUE TO SIZE, BUT I WILL E-MAIL IT IF YOU WANT IT. 4.59 M

You'll need to turn up the volume and increase the bass to get a better feel of how it truly sounds. The sound on the video does not do it justice. They are getting the car setup and warmed up so it takes a little bit before they romp on it. I love the sound, and since it's on a 79 L-82, you can really get an idea of how it might sound on your vette.

Sharklover, couldn't get at your clip. Was it removed?

I have hedman hedders #68301 (smog) and those go out to dual 2.5" pipes, and out to Super Turbo mufflers. Sound pretty tame at idle and then when I jump on it, it wakes up considerably (with my 268h cam). I need to get it smogged in November, so I'll probably drop on dual cats to pass test (but probably not visual!) :)

I am in process now of installing aluminum heads. On 5/25 I am getting it dynoed. I plan to get it dynoed again after the dual cats go on to compare and see how much dual high flow cats restrict things. . . . should be interesting.

It might have been. Apparently the forum was allowing more than 5meg in the homepages and files were going to have to be deleted.

Edit: clip was 4.59meg so I can't upload it. However, I'll try to e-mail it to you if you want.

Avery
