6 Speed Trans upgrade for 74?
So I am wanting to upgrade to a 6 speed on my 74. I see alot of them in the paper and on Craigslist for many different makes and models. My question is, what year makes and models can I use? For example, will a tranny from a 94 Camaro work? Or one from a C5? Looking for something that doesn't require a whole lot of modification.

I know a lot of people use the T-56 out of the 4th gen camaros, C5's, and 04+ CTS-V's. I honestly don't know what modification is involved but I would think you'd need to modify the tunnel to fit such a large trans in there.

93-97 F body LT1 Camaro trans.
Centerforce, McCleod, Carolina Clutch all make the FW/clutch combo to adapt the 2 piece rms to the LTx Clutch.
Keisler also makes some retro kits to where you can use your mech. Linkage they are a sponsor here. I love the hyd. clutch setup though nice light pedal. Great trans youll love it. Even with 4.11s a huge cam and short rear tire I can still easily cruise any fwy speed.

You for sure cant use one from a C5. The C5 uses a trans mounted in the rear. I am using an 06GTO T56 in mine but it requires a lot of work and fab work to get it in. The 5 speeds bolt in pretty good but the T56 is a bigger trans. I am using the LS style throwout bearing also. Nice setup but required some work.
