New Rear Spring, what else will I need?
I am replacing the tired 9 leaf in 74 w/#330 VB&P. It is way too soft. I have the usual VB&P parts list plus Bil shocks. What else will I likely have to relpace once I'm in there? I want to have the parts ready in advance.
It won't be perfect, but it will be much more drivable!
TIA

If it was me. I would completely check over the rear end housing cover for cracks where the spring bolts go through. It is not a common problem, but it does happen. If you find a crack order the HD cover for the later 78 - 79 models with the wider 2.5 inch spring.
Many years ago I tried a 340 or 360 mono from VB&P It was to light so i added a leaf to my 9 leaf steel. I'm now using a 420# and I'm considering just going to a coil over rear setup because 420# is not stiff enough and body roll can get my tires into the flared fenders until I tightened down the spring bolts to raise the rear end.
