Default Champion Aluminum Radiator Install

I'm trying to install a Champion Aluminum radiator with electric fans on my 76 Vette and ran into the following problem: The drain plug is installed on the left bottom side, rather than the right side and it is hitting the bottom rad support and will not seat properly. Wondering if any of you out there faced this problem and what did you do to get around it? I'm thinking of just taking the drain plug out and installing a bolt or hex screw.. but would like to hear other options..

Thanks,
Ron

Another member had this same problem, had a local shop change the location back to the original location. Yes you can plug it & remove the lower hose when you drain it. It's a bit sloppy when you do it though., Have a great one. Gene

It should have tapered pipe threads, so you'll need a pipe plug to fit correctly.

I'd put a pipe threaded plug into and then use a little harbor freight electric pump and a long clear hose to suck the coolant out of it when you need to.

Clean and real quick when you have to drain the system. Of course my cars is a stick so I don't have the trans cooler in mine fighting me when putting the hose down to the bottom of the radiator to clear out the coolant.

Why would anyone plug their radiator?

If you have the room, try installing a 90 degree street elbow. then you can install the petcock into the ellbow and turn it where you want.
