Finally Dropped in the 383!
For those of you who have been following this project for the past six years, and know of the major headaches that I have gone to I am extactic to post the following pictures for your enjoyment. After years and years of broken promises about 6 months ago I boxed up my car and took it to a new mechanic. He had a few projects to do before ours, but he has hit it hard for the past few months, and we are nearing putting the frame back on.
This was a previous thread on the project..

It's amazing how much work you've done and it looks FANTASTIC! I know you're keeping a good photo log, but keep a good written log with receipts as well. It sure will protect some of your investment down the road...not to mention how cool it is to see it all documented so well.
One of the best looking frames I've seen. Well done!!! Wish you were closer, I'd love to take a drive in that when you're ready.

Thanks y'all. My dad and I are really excited about getting it on the road again. We both love old corvettes. So we started this project together about 6 years ago. Glad its finally comming together.

You are really not past the point of doing the frame gusseting and welding
I do like the painted engine and matching calipers.
After 20 years of beating the dead horse 700r4 tranny I switched to a 5 speed. It brought new entertainment value to my 79

Yeah one day I may change it out for a flat 6 but I allready had a 700r4 core sitting around. And the car origionally had a th350 it didn't make sense to try to track down all of the parts I would have needed to convert it. Plus, at the time that I was dealing with the transmission I didn't have ANY faith in the guy who was working on the car.

I am buying a little piece of braided hose to replace the black pcv hose. Once I get it worked out I will post some more. Also, you all need to see the air cleaner also.
My only concern so far is fitment with the hood. I have absolutely NO idea how close it will be, and if it will fit at all. Time will tell. With that said, I really want to keep the outside of the car looking as stock as possible, with the exceptions of the wheels tires.
I am even going to put new L-48 badging on the hood.
