C4 suspension
Hi guys,
It looks like I have found a donor for my C4 suspension upgrade to my spare frame of my 1970 vette. I know others have done this upgrade also. I am looking for any insights, things to watch out for and especially pictures of projects in the works or completed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Thanks Roger,
I've chatted with him and he was very helpful. Just looking for others that have done it also to get their intake and experiences.

I've done a fair amount of research and along with help from you guys, I knew I was looking for the D44. I like to make informed decisions before jumping into something. That's why I am looking for whatever knowledge I can get form other forum members before I actually begin work

Cool idea. I must have missed the other threads. I know some of the aftermarket frames use C4 stuff. Be sure to bring lots of pics when this is going on. There are a couple of C4's in the local JY near me, but I am sure those guys think they are gold just like everything else in their yard.

Hi guys,
I was really hoping to get some more feed back from others who have done a C4 suspension upgrade. 69427 did his with a C3 pumpkin and batwing. I appreciate his input and photos. They were very helpful, but would like to check out all avenues before starting into this project. I was hoping to hear from someone who has gone with all C4 stuff. Anyone out there that can help?

I am starting on one, mid 70's frame with 86 suspension (dana 44). I need to spend a couple more hours on the trans mount then I am ready to start on the rear suspension but it seems I wont have much time for a few weeks. Always looking for ideas, pics, ect.

Here is a guy I know who did one. May not be the "correct" way to do it but it got the job done. I don't know if you can access this page, but here is the link:

I would like to know more about this as well since I can get a 1990 rolling shell with a dana44 for 500.00. Thought this would be a great upgrade for my 82 corvette.

I picked up my new suspension from a 1993 ZR1 yesterday. It's in great shape. Got it in the shop setting next to the project frame. Now I just need to find some time to start playing with it. Would love to see some more pictures of projects in the works or completed. I'll keep you guys up to date as the project moves forward.

I did the front end in my car. I haven't finished the rest of the car yet so I'm not exactly sure how it will work out, but it looks good. I cut the frame right before the spring pockets and made a new section of frame out of 4" sq tubing. On the new section I had brackets that matched up to the C4 front X-member, so it replace all the suspension and steering, I had to notch my motor mount for my steering shaft and the width is much wider so I needed new rims, I used WS6 rims off a firebird. The only thing I can say is take lots of measurements and make sure you have everything where you want it before you start welding. If you aren't sure how to weld frame get someone who does to help you. Its not that hard but if you forget something and your welds crack you will be pretty upset. Hope that helps. If I find some pictures I'll post them for you
Here's a link to a little bit about my build, it doesn't go into much detail but there's some good pictures

I've been playing with the rear suspension. Just setting in place to see exactly how I will mount it. I was looking at it from the side and noticed that the half shafts are not perpendicular to the pumpkin. They are angled back a slight bit. I did not take an angle measurement as of yet. The rotors look to be parallel with the frame. Nothing looks bent. I haven't been able to get a C-4 on my rack to see if this is normal or not yet. It seems odd that they are not perpendicular. Was just wondering if anyone knows if this is correct before I proceed any farther.
