Default TH350 kickdown link for Qjet?

Here is a picture of the qjet currently on the car:

Here is what I want to rebuild as a replacement:

The second one is missing the attachment point for the TH350. Is there an easy way to attach the kickdown? If not, will it hurt the transmission by not hooking up the kickdown? The way I understand it is that the kickdown ONLY controls WOT downshift, and does not work to increase line pressure on the clutches.

You could weld on an extension (remove the throttle plate assy from the carb first), or swap throttle shafts. Unless it's been fixed in the past, there may be excessive clearance in the primary shaft bores - if you're going to install bushings, it would be an opportune time to swap shafts.

Without the kickdown, you'd have to manually downshift which could be PITA. Depends on your driving style. I'm usually manual shifting mine half the time anyway, but I do like the kickdown so I can step on the gas and have it automatically downshift when it's in Drive (3rd).

Look on JEGS web site for part number 350-8018, 350 AT kickdown stud. If you are going to rebuild the carb. have the rebuilder take the shaft out of the old carb and install in new carb. The shift down cable is critical as to where your trans shifts. You'll be unhappy without it.

when cruising at 80 mph and going WOT, the tranny(auto) downshifts to lower gear and the rpms go up...correct? is that the same as going into D2 with an automatic...i always thought that to be death of a tranny....when i go WOT its sounds so severe...its hard to think it wont explode....its an awesome sound tho....the tranny will never go redline the way its designed? thanks, jeff

If you want to swap carbs I'm running an incorrect auto on my '68 and need a manual. Mine has the kick down bracket. 70209202DH from a '69 350/350 auto car. I'd rebuild it with a kit and put back on. Running presently just started to leak seals dried out
Let me know
