Default What parts usable from 77 on a 73?

I've got a 73 and I have a junker 77. How much of the 77 can go into the 73? Aside from the obvious back end of course.

I'd like to use the clip off the 77, with the 73s hood (has a grill in it). would that work?

I got the clip off of the 77 already (it was a replacement and put on badly so it came off easily- ironic but lucky for me).

I'm using the frame from the 77 too which was the point of buying it for parts. Came with the body, no engine, transmission, or interior.

All of the running gear is the same: Engine/Frame/Brakes/Suspension etc. As for the body parts, I'd bet they are too. You'd just have to make 'em fit.

If you are using the frame from the 77 for the 73 you need to graft the 73 rear frame rails onto the 77. The front clip shouldn't be a problem as long as you use the bumper impact parts off the 77. And the hood won't be a problem

Great. I had planned on using the front end, with all the bumper brackets and vacuum tube as they are in great shape. I may try and get a new rear rail for the 77's frame. The 73's frame is so bad I doubt I could sand blast it and have enough metal left for a safe frame!

In order to use the 77 frame under the 73 you Have to change the last 18" of the frame to that from the 73.

Hmm, well I'll have to see how good that bit is when the 73's body comes off.

Nice job! Looks like I'll have to practice my welding skills a bit.

The 77 has some unique parts that are in demand. If your turn signal stalk is in good shape it will sell, also the T&T column in general. Other interior parts are unique like the radio, dash pad, center trim, etc. If you have some of these in decent shape, you can recoup some of your investment.

The 73 & 74 front clips were unique in the front bumper area.

The 77 bumper flange has a recess between the headlights. 73/4 bumper flanges come to a point in the center as shown below.

If you change the clip without addressing this it will be noticable to those in the know.

I looked at both the 77 parts car and the 73, guess what. The repaired nose on the 73 looks like they used a different model year, they BOTH have the depressions in the center.

I guess it's now moot.

The parts car i picked up had no interior at all, not even a column.
