You can't get laquer at all in some states, such as mine TX, and its on the chopping block eventually every where. But you can call a local paint supply store and inquire whether they still sell laquer in MI or not. As for price....I can't tell you. When I was doing my car, I got quoted on a gal of PPG DBC Basecoat Bridgehampton/Targa Blue and it was around $350. Laquer should be much cheaper if you can find it. You might drop a line to VetteFixer as he painted his car in laquer recently. For the Code, it should be on the trim tag inside the door jamb....I think Targa blue was 979...Mulsane starts with 9 but you'll need to be sure that's the original color of the car (you can find all paint codes in the corvette black book or search the web some) Laquer should be much cheaper if you can find it. You might drop a line to VetteFixer as he painted his car in laquer recently.

unfortunatly the original owner removed the trim tag so he could change the car to green with black interior. as a result i have a doctored tag, but not the original. i was however able to authenticate that the car was originally mulssane blue with blue interior.

'66 Nassau blue . Code 976

Once you have the GM paint code, 976 for example, then you need to get the Fisher paint code so the store can correctly mix the paint. Look in the back of the various restoration guides, most have a cross reference for different paint manufacturers.

If you can't buy it locally try House of Kolor at http://www.houseofkolor.com . They might be able to provide a match and they still carry lacquer.
