Two things really....distributor for a 75-80 model year chevy/pontiac/buick....and a non computer carbuerator. That should be it for a 4spd car. An auto may require something else for proper tranny operation. I'm just not sure.

#1. Pull off the distributor, the carburetor, the ECM, the wiring harness (for that control system) and the sensors that you no longer need.

#2. Send them all to me at my shipping expense.

#3. Install another carb and distributor [either points-type or HEI].

#4. Accept my humble thanks for the nice 'gift'.

Keep all your original stuff. It may be required in the future. You may be the owner, when that time comes.

Trans has a lock up torque converter for better gas mileage. B&M makes a TTC kit for your car so it will work properly.

Just to clarify this a little, it must be from a small block (or big block) Chevy, which could be had in some other Buick, Olds, Pontiac-but so could Buick, Olds, or Pontiac engines be found in Chevys (not Corvettes). You need an HEI distributor from a 262, 305, 350, or 454 (pickup) Chevy engine of this time period. The 366, 427, and 454 tall deck truck/bus distributors won't work either.

No, just tring to keep it simple, reduce concern with electrical malfuntion and improper calibration to aftermarket parts.

Simple is good. I'd have the takers send me the shipping money and sent it to 'em. Just my preference, of course.

Just for the record... I understand your desire to go with a standard HEI distributor and basic Q-Jet (or Holley...or whatever); lots of folks do the same thing. But I was NOT being flippant with my previous post. I really would like to refurbish your ECM system/dist/carb and stick it on my '71 coupe. But, no one wants those parts so they throw them away and I can't find a complete set.

I have a "basic" Q-Jet carb [1201 Edelbrock] which has been rebuilt by Lars Grimsrud and works great. If it will sweeten the pot any, I'll send you my carb as a good, working replacement for yours. You should just be able to bolt it on and go. As for the dizzy, mine is a points unit and I'm sure you wouldn't want it. But GM HEI units are easy to find. Then, put a toggle switch on your converter lockup feed wire and you should be "good to go".

I'm still willing for the trade...and shipping is my responsibility. You'll get [most of] what you want and I'll get what I want. Interested?

Oh ok well to each his own. One thing is, like the others said, if you want to keep vaule and originality in the future, you might want to keep the system just in case, but if you dont care 7T1vette's offer sounds great to me! but whatever its your choice, good luck with whatever you do!
