Well so far i have a set of block hugger headers that can go in the garbage. and also a complete 2-1/2 inch set up thats not too far behind. Looks like maybe a 2" will fit in this car. will just tow it down to the muffler shop and let them kink something up to fit. I have 2-1/2" manifolds that i am sure they can step down to 2" or smaller to make fit in this car. The tranny hanger is a pile of crap, and needs to be cut and re-welded i guess if its going to work.

The Vendors need to stop selling **** that doesnt work and actually start helping a guy out with parts that will work......

Hi G427,
I can't offer you any advice, but I can send you a WHOLE BUNCH of stuff that you can put in the garbage for me.
It's incredible the amount new JUNK parts (and services) you can waste your money on these days.
Sometimes I'm afraid to see the UPS truck pull up because I know how disappointed I'm going to be.

I put headers on & drove to a muffler shop.

It is funny that some co. make stuff that looks like they started yesterday for years.

I used Cyclone chrome full length, flow & fit great.
When Walker, an exhaust co. lost a Hot Rod exhaust shootout they bought the winner & changed the name to Dynomax, which I have been rec.
Evidently Flowtech has the headers now.

I found a thread on here where Buddy used the Headman Elites? I called summit and am shipping the block huggers back on trade for the headmans. Now i only need to get the muffler shop to connect up from the collector back to the crossmember. Everything from there back should work. Should end up with a complete 2.5" system or at least a 2" stepped to 2.5.

i wouldnt go 2 inch exhaust regardless, let a muffler build a good 2.5 system, 2 inch is way to little.

If you're gonna get a muffler shop do the work, you might as well let them make you a 2 1/2in. system and make more power.

I have those Flowtech ceramic coated headers mentioned above on my 1980. They fit great, no clearance issues whatsoever. The right one was tough to get installed. Had to unbolt the right engine mount and lift the engine slightly to get it in there.

For the pipes I bought the full dual exhaust kit from Corvette Central. You can get them as a full kit with shorty headers, pipes with a H-pipe crossover and Magnaflow mufflers. Or, you can get them minus the shorty headers and they bolt right up to the factory exhaust manifolds. These are the pipes I got since I already have those Flowtechs.

Since I have long tube headers, I didn't need the pipes to reach all the way to the factory manifolds. So I cut off the front bends, then welded 3" to 2.5" reducers to the front end of the pipes. Everything fits awesome and they look great. They have metal tabs that you can bolt directly to the tranny crossmember and clamps in two places so you can easily disassemble the exhaust to get to the rear suspension or tranny or whatnot. The elbows on the mufflers also come pre-welded. It's a really nice kit for a great price too.

I will say, I had some issues with Corvette Central on shipping. Their web site didn't charge me correctly, so they increased the shipping charges without telling me, and overcharged me in the process. When I challenged them on it ,they wouldn't work with me so I went ahead and cancelled the order for a full refund since they hadn't been delivered yet. Then, 1 of the 2 boxes showed up at my doorstep, so they finally agreed to charge me the original shipping price instead of paying to ship them back. Bottom line, great product, not so great customer service. Just my two cents.

Parts places don't engineer anything these days; they don't have any engineers [any more]. Aftermarket fabricators just copy what they always have done or what someone else has done...whether it works or not. And the ones that DO work...you can't afford. Ahhh, modern 'business'...

Americans showed the Japanese how to create a reasonable cost, high-quality products [W.E. Deming, following WWII]; the Japanese showed us how to do that with major products [1970-2000]; we showed the world that making a 'non-quality' product makes more money.... Shame on us.
