Default Dumb Grill Question

My righthand grill molding is shot, and I'm sure many of you are aware that the grill assemblies are way expensive. I've seen grill moldings sold by themselves. Here's an ebay link that shows what I'm talking about:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968-...Q5fAccessories

Is this a realistic solution for my '72, or do I need to buy the entire assembly?

Since they are "used" and condition is questionable, it might be better to find a good Corvette swap meet so that you can see what you are buying.

I bought a used set via Ebay for a shade over $200. Good sellers will have detailed pictures of their product. The plating on mine was in good shape. I stripped and re-painted the egg crate portion. My advice is to stay away from any that have any pieces broken off. I hear they are difficult to repair.

Is the picture in your post just the trim pieces from a 68-69 Vette?

That's my question - can I buy just the trim pieces for a 72 or do I need to get the sole assembly?

You can buy just the trim.
The Ebay set depicted looks OK enough for that money.
But compare them against repro prices if you only need 1 piece.
And note his RH piece is the one that's scuffed.

you need to get the whole assembly. It only comes in one piece. the 68 and 69 vettes use a totally different setup in the front.
