Anyone sorry they installed poly A arm bushings?
Need to install new A arm bushing and was considering poly or graphite poly busings. Is anyone dissapointed they did for reasons that I have yet to discover? Has anyone actually gone back to rubber? Any brand better than others?

My ride became very rough and bumpy after installing poly bushings on my '90.
With in a week I bought all new rubber bushings from the dealership and replaced
all my bushings with rubber. What a world of diffrence in ride smoothness. I'll never
buy poly again. The small suspention performance increase was not worth the comfort.

I bought the hard rubber a-arm bushings from Guldstrand Engineering. No sqeaks and no harsh ride. I recommend them.

Now I'm worried.
I just installed all new graphite impregnated bushings throughout on my 71' 350 Readster. Haven't had a chance to test drive yet, becasue of other on-goiing work. I bought the sales pitch of super-long life and no squeaks, because of the graphite.
I use this car as a driver a lot, so I hope the ride doesn't get too harsh.

I've got Energy Suspension bushings everywhere in my car. It's loud, rough, has very short tire sidewalls, and very stiff springs. It would ride rough no matter what bushings were in there. The one point everyone forgets about is that urethane bushings will outlast you and your car. The're resistant to oil, gas, and salt.

Since I am not doing any racing with my car, I am replacing my bushings with
rubber again. I have no need for ultimate flat cornering and high performance
suspension. C3's have a rough enough ride, I'm going for all of the comfort that I can get since my car will be for regular town and highway driving.
Evaluate your use when modifying your car. Just because a performance and
speed mag. says that something is awsome dose not mean that it is good for
all applications.

I haven't replaced any bushings yet at all, some of them are the original rubber. I was told by a corvette place around here that the poly ones cause more vibration which can ruin your fiberglass body. Anyone heard of this?

I've had a full-poly front for over two years now. I also replaced the stock springs with 550 springs. No regrets at all. It really improved the control and feel of steering return. My stock bushings weren't in bad shape either so the difference isn't a question of bad/good bushings.
Would I do it again? Sure! In fact my fall/winter project (just one of many) was overhauling the entire front suspension on my '67 Fairlane. I used poly bushings in everything except the strut rods.

If you want a soft compliant ride, get a Cadillac!
Corvettes are rough riding to begin with, My Energy suspension poly units, made it a bit rougher but thats what I like. I will always put them in my vehicles now.

Been running poly for years. Love the stuff. The car turns rings around C4s and C5s.
Like Mike said, you want smooth, get a different car. You want performance, get rid of the sloppy rubber.

I have all poly to go in my 70. I am torn between smooth and handling. I am going to go with the poly no matter. I let you know when everything is done.

I have all VB&P poly bushings and they are GREAT. If installed correctly, poly bushings will not squeak. Ride is not rough at all. I have no idea where all this paranoia about them comes from. I've had poly bushings on a number of cars & have had none of the ill effects people speak of.

Poly Vrs Rubber is the first question I asked on this Forum 6 months ago, and I immediatly went to installing it. I don't care if the Poly ride is harsh, after all, It's a performance car and should ride and handel as such. I don't even care if it squeeks..turn up the tunes. I want to "drive" my car, and any product that keeps me on the road longer, rather than up on stands in the garage, gets my money. Just my .02...nothing more! :D :D :D

I used VB&P poly bushings in the suspension rebuild. I like them, and they improve handling, but the A-arm bushings started to work their way out! I took it to a Hi Performance alignment shop, and the guy said to replace the A-frame bushings with rubber. I did, and it's fine now. my 2c.

Anyone ever install Global Wests Del-A-Lum bushings in their C3. I have them in my Buick GS, work outstanding.

No. The poly bushings improved the ride. The car feels more stable. If you want a soft ride go with soft springs, shocks and tires.
The poly will be a plus.
