Default 1979 L82 Manual Qjet...whats the difference to a 1979 L48 Auto Qjet.

Have been doing a little research and my $2500 1979 L82 Manual project car is all numbers matching apart from the carb.
It would appear that it has a 79 Auto Qjet on so year correct, just wrong application.

From what I have read, the 2 differences are the linkage and also on the manual, it uses a device similar to a choke pull off, to richen it up on coast.

Is this correct and does anyone have any pics of an original manual carb on an L82?

TIA.

The manual does NOT have the solenoid on it for the AC idle kick up.
Visually they look pretty much the same, I'll have to compare my 79s.
Maybe the linkage mount is different as cruise wasn't available with the manual.
Pics are my black79 manual...

Thanks, I didnt know that.
My carb # is 17059504, would that be a corvette carb, possibly a 79 L48 auto?

Not sure if Im going to go stock with my resto or mod. Would be nice to have a correct 17059211 carb I guess.

Default carb

Like kaps says,is what it is.And I can not tell you what the differences would be between the carburetors as to L 82 vs L48.

Default thought

Just a quick question, something I thought about after posting my response to you.Is your car a California car and is it an L 82,look at your VIN and see if your fifth digit is an 4 or an 8,4 will signify a L 82,8 will be a L 48.Also your tach will have L 82 printed on the lower face. Seems like a coincidence that you have a factory correct carburetor on your car, which is not impossible.Just a thought.

Default Rods & Jets.

Looks like L82 had 77 jets and 53 rods and L48 had 71 and 41.
If this is too small to read PM me your email. PG.

Would there have been a Californian version of this, 17059511 or something like that or would it not have been an option for CA drivers?

Default carburetor

The Cali car would carry a p/n of 17059504,17059507,and would not be an L 82 car.Do not know what the last one is for

I know in 1978 you could not get an L82 at all NOR an L48 with a manual trans in California.
Pretty sure that carried into 1979 also.

Thanks for all the info guys.

looks like the carb I have on there now, if stock would have 72 main jets and 40 rods as opposed to the correct #211 having 77 jets and 53 main rods.
Springs and secondary rods should be the same.

Hopefully, there will be no major internal differences between the main body castings.
