Side Mufflers
I replaced the engine on my 1970 with a crate 330hp about a year ago because the original engine blew up - 3 right hand pistons went into the oil pan. I put on a side pipe package about 8 years ago - not original, has fiberglass covers. When the engine blew oil came out the right side pipe in a long stream. Although I still have them on with the new engine they are both now too loud, and the right hand especially is probably covered in engine oil (internally). So, can these stock side pipes be repacked? Is it worth it or just get new ones? Any great sources?
Thanks in advance. Peter

i too have the aftermarket pipes and covers. From what I know, there is no packing per se, if you mean fiberglass or something else. There is only a series of metal baffles inside of each unit. Nothing that can be replaced.

I think Allen's Exhaust is a good source for 69 style side exhaust.
