Correct rear differential lube for 76
What rear differential lubricant do I need to get? I know I have to have the gear oil and some other type of lubricant but I need to know what weight for the gear oil and what the other stuff is. thanks

I use 80W-90 GM axle lubricant. They came in 23 oz bottles and I think I used 3 bottles. I also added a 4oz bottle of Limited Slip Lubricant (additive), it helps with chatter around corners.

I researched on here for a while, about to do the same on mine. I have seen a lot of people using lucas 85-140. Two bottles and then get two bottles of GM positrac lubricant. Use 1 bottle of posi lube and do figure eights and if it chatters drain a little fluid and put more posi lube and repeat figure eights.

As long as I have been building rear ends I have always trusted the GM lube and additive. Nothing else will go in a rear end in our shop!
BUT . . . . I too am watching this thread. . . . GM like everything else, has raise our cost on this so much over the past two years that I think we should start looking for alternatives.
