Look'n good Snowman! May have missed it, but what kind of wheels are those (street setup), they look baaaaaad!
Never mind, found my answer.
"Ordered and got some killer wheels from Vintage Wheel Works, had spokes powder coated a gunmetal metallic color. They turned out well. 17x9's in the front, 17x11's in the rear."

Nope but he will see himself in some way in the article we do in CE. I was so impressed with the car when I bought it that I got pictures sent to Andy Bolig and he did an article last year (OCT 2008 CE Blue Monsoon). By the time article came out, the motor and tranny had taken a powder. The guy misrepresented the car to me, no question but I also believe he was taken for a ride by his mechanic, another fairly well-known con man on these boards. All no-name Chinese shXt, not as advertised. All in the past now. One thing previous owner pleaded with me NOT to do was put side pipes on the car. Eat your heart out!
I'm over it. He was a weenie, in no way a stand up guy. He has his own demons to deal with.
In other news, Stan (Road-Race Vette) and Tim are flying down next Sunday for Phase 2 of the body work...taking the entire car down to fiberglass, straigtening all body panels, gelcoat, blocking, more gelcoat. Car will be all black by mid July. Then we let it bake in the summer heat while I drive it some more and then back for more prep and paint later in the year.

We will have a frantic week here at the shop to wrap up a bunch of stuff before we come to Houston. I will be shipping a bunch of tools again this week.
We will get materials from the body shop supply place in your area. They seem to be stocked up with all the good stuff.
My tools are going to qualify for "frequent flyer " miles soon.

Badazzzzz ride....
Damn Doug, you are gonna make me get my azz to work on my 71.. The primer is killing me!! Im torn between the Toms rear HD parts and just cruising a little... But if i get back to the dragstrip with this car im gonna lose the house!!!
The strip is so additive to me(from growing up with my family racing) that i once traded all my MAC 3 peice toolboxes (tools into cardboard boxes true) to Gene Fulton (spartanburg sc)for the MSD ignition and the Heads to be finished for my PRO STREET Nova in 1989... He still has the Boxes and i still have a roof.... Im lovin your car, just like i would build for me.. Especially the flares and sides....... Joey

Stan and Tim will have been here 2 weeks on Sunday when they fly back. They took Saturday a week ago off and they took Wednesday this week off to let the car bake in the sun after complete gelcoat. Other than that they have been cranking.
The car looks great! A little weird to see it in white/light gray but the dark blue will come soon. I have decided to paint the car with C6 LMB and may do some white striping. I am also looking for a 68-76 hardtop to bring up to speed and paint with the car. If you know of someone who has painted HT (no vinyl tops please), please let me know who to contact or have people contact me. dplette@aol.com or PM here.
I will let Stan post pics of what I'd call Phase 2 of the body work. We ran into troubles last weekend because it is SO humid here that the dryer on my new Quincy air compressor just could not handle the humidity and condensation at ALL. Using the grinders and sanders we were spraying water all over things which is BAD news!
We took Bruiser to a local paint ship on Monday where we have been able to work this week because of the generosity of owner Larry Peavler who scheduled us a prep bay and paint booth. Pics are coming by first of the week. Thank you Larry!
Bruiser lives!

We just got back from our home away from home(Houston), after completing phase 2 of our job on Bruiser.
All went according to plan and I am happy to report that we got a bit farther along than we thought we would.
As nice as this car looked originaly, it had some challenging issues that had to be dealt with. Some we knew about already, and some were surprises.
The body gaps were..... well the pics will speak for themselves
Ever see a corvette doorskin this thick before??
The good thing is that all that was about to be undone once and for all, bringing this car back where it should be.
We preceded to strip the body of all paint(some spots had quite a bit), and then started on the bodywork. When our goal is acheived, this will be one of the straightest vettes out there. PERIOD. The car, as well as the owner deserve it.
One other assignement was to mount the L88 set up on the hood and cut out some breathing holes for the monster motor.
After a lot of body work, we pulled the car out of Snowmans' garage, loaded it up on the trailer and headed to Doug's friend's bodyshop.
We needed a spray booth for the rest of our time there.
Not long after we arrived, we were spraying the Gelcoat.
After gelcoating, we let the car cure for a day, and then sanded the gelcoat and applied a coat of poly on it.
The next day, we sanded down all the poly and sprayed the first coat of primer.
We then took the car outside, let the Houston sun bake it a bit , and returned it to Doug's house .With crisp body lines and a nice body, PHASE TWO was complete. The car is starting to look very sexy now!!!!
We will now allow everything to cure a bit, and then return to start wet sanding, do the jams, and get this car ready for paint!!!
We can now finally see what this car is going to look like when it is finished.
Thanks to Larry for letting us invade his shop. His assistance in that matter was critical to our success.
I also want to say a hello to all the great people we met this time out.
DAVE, You still owe me a dinner for working on your 69 vette while I was there!!!! : )
And Doug, thank you for helping out with everything we needed. You can coordinate a project like no other.
BTW, it looks like we are going to look into setting up a 2nd Generation west in the Houston area.
We feel right at home there and I think our services can go to good use in Texas.

These are the two pics I like best so far....the gelcoat gives a clue of how great the car will look when painted
And I like the stance in this picture!
Thanks Stan and Tim for a job well done, Larry for finding room in your shop schedule for us.
More pictures soon!

Just picked up a hardtop on fleaBay, Stan says he can work with it. Just need to get it shipped here to Tejas now so I have it for the install of roll cage for size purposes. I am guessing the hardtop is a tighter fit than the soft top but will find out soon I guess.

man o man, where do i start?.. lol
besides not having the $$ to do everything i wanna do to it, its fine..
it took me like... 3 years to finally get going on my motor.. even tho id always save for it while i worked lots of hrs in the summer..
the list of things that i still need to do to it is smaller, but still hefty on the wallet.. but the new motor is done.. which is/was the biggest expence.. just gotta finish paying that off so i can start on the rest...
but im starting to hyjack your thread so ill end it here..
