Default 73 bumper on a 78

well ive been busy lately, over the last month ive been putting on a 73 front bumper on my 78. heres some of the things i had to do. enkienvette (adam) did it first, so hes the pioneer not me .

the starting point

cutting the old bumper off

test fit




have to make this out of fiberglass to fill the gap

had to cut the crash bar and honeycomb



bolts for the bumper

test fit

Looking good, I am in the process of doing a similar thing. I have replaced the poly bumpers with fibreglass on 77. Ground out all the joints and fibreglassed in to give the seamless look. Think it will be well worth it in the end.
Its alot more work than it looks, but then bodywork always seems to be.....

thanks

i worked on this thing 2 days a week for a month, so all together im guessing i have around 60 hrs worth of work in it all together... im really glad i took my time tho.. wouldnt have come out the same if i rushed.

well a 73 rear would be abit more 'involved'...

im actually not sure yet, the rear is fine now but eventually ill change that out for fiberglass also. cant decide whether i want the 80s tyle or if im going to stay with my style but with out the bumperets..

Looks like you did a great job with a lot of work. I'm curious though... with all that work, why not put a chrome bumper on it? :]
