Looks good but this is NOT a cage.. It's a roll bar..

THIS is a cage..

That's the problem with C3 roll bars and cages in general.. Unless you lower the drivers seat, the roll bar will always be very low and most drivers with a helmet on would not be the required 2 inches below the top of the main hoop..

Yes, I mistyped about cage vs. bar.

It was shop fabricated, and the chassis is much stiffer. Launches better and handles turns better. The bar was difficult to get any higher, as the it would change the angle of the 2 rear supporting bars such that the bar would move higher and more forward to an improper spot. At least that's what they told me.

The rear bars have to be 30 degrees.. When I had mine done, I had it designed so that the convertible top would still be functional with the roll bar in place. That's why mine is even lower than that.. I believe that I have the ONLY C3 with a full cage that can use a fully operational soft-top. I actually prefer to race topless but I could use the soft top if I wanted to.. In order to make the 30 degree angle on the rear supporting bars, the main hoop had to start out behind the drivers seat on the floor and had to be slightly tilted to the back. If the
main hoop is monted at the beginning of the rear frame and is mounted straight, the bar also can't be too high as the rear supporting bars wouldn't have enough space.. However, if you have the main hoop tilted slightly, it works out a lot better..

If you don't mind me asking, how much you pay for something like that?
Or simpler just the rollbar?

$1100.
Was $100 a point (mild steel) ($200 for moly), plus $300 for the swingarms, plus materials, and some welded gusset replacements, labor (take out and reinstall seats, rugs, etc) and paint.
Did a very neat welding job.

That really looks clean and the fit looks perfect!
Has anyone tried one of the pre made units from these guys? I'm sure it's not as good as a hand built one, but I wonder if the fit is close or not.

I like the look but it seems like the crossover could go back further. I realize that to anchor to the side beams/floor requires it to be where it is, and I like the tilted option others have mentioned. I thought that I saw others that went down to the curved section of chassis rail. Is that any less or more safe/strong/stiff?

My real concern is with how close the door bars are to you and your potential passenger. I know I fit up against the door in my 75 and I'm a small fella. I take it this is a street car that sees track duty? I'd be happier with the driver door opened up and a more "nascar" style driver's side arrangement where they go into the door for extra crush room.
