Default Wiper Door

Can anyone tell me why the wiper door on my 68 is in the open position, even when the wipers are off? The override **** is not in the on position. That was the first thing I checked.

it uses vacuum to open and close.
chances are the relay that switches where the vacuum goes is bad.
or there is a hole in the vacuum line that closes it.

Hi

Wiggle the wiper switch a bit. I had the same problem and found that the wiper somehow did not park correctly and keeping the door open.

Hi 68,
Do 68's have the vacuum valve under the right side wiper arm in the wiper well? If they do it needs to be closed by the right side wiper arm coming down into the park position and signaling that it's O.K. for the actuator to close the door.
I'm sorry I'm not sure if 68's have this valve or not.
Regards,
Alan

On 68 (early) you don't have the vacuum valve under the right side wiper arm in the wiper well.

Try applying vacuum to the small port on the wiper door relay and see if the door comes down.

Cool I was going to ask that question, I thought somthing was amiss because it was so tight to the wiper base ( DUMMY). Is there a way to "TEST" the actuator that moves the whole contraption ?
