275 and 255 Tyres to C3
Lookingto swap the 255x60x15's off the rear and on to the front with 275x60x15's ontothe rear. Has anyone run into issues with this combo particularly with 275 clearance. Any loading/structural advice welcome. 1980 C3.

Just make sure you have enough clearence for the spring, was tight when I have 265/50/15's on mine before I change to 17' rims, now there is penty of clearence with 275/50/17's on the rear

Hi
Installed 275/60-15 in the rear of my 68 onto 8 inch rims with the same backspacing as original.
Yes, they are tight , but just pass the fender lip . Disconnected the spring and moved the weels all the way up until they bottomed to check.
They pass because they tilt inwards on top. If you have the VB&P lowered arm system installed, they will not piwot in and will not make it pass the fender.
I have original trailing arms and did not need to move the parkingbrake bracket away.

I looked into this a fair bit back when I was buying new wheels/tires and here is the thread I started with the info: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...ive-guide.html
But one of the main things I found out is that clearance differs from car to car (even cars of the same year), 275's will fit on some cars no mods but then others can't.
Cheapest way is to buy the tires and try to fit them, cross your fingers and check all clearances (before driving!).
