hard shift when cold
I bought an 82 collectors edition with 85k a few weeks ago.
Overall I think I bought a nice car but when warming up and the idle is high the transmission shifts like it is going to break the driveshaft. I had a 76 L82 StingRay that had the turbo 400 speed and it shifted very smooth and firm and never made the car jump or wheels screech just by shifting.
I'm starting to think the previous owner may have installed a shift kit. I would like to take it out since I want a more mellow cruiser. The 4th gear OD is like heaven compared to the 3 speed.
Any feedback on what I can maybe check out is appreciated.

It's very possible it has a shift kit. I won't build a 700 without one.
If it shifts OK after it's warm, I'd just deal with it. If it's really bugging you, try resetting the TV cable. If you extend the housing it shifts softer, shorter housing is harder shifts. Don't go over 2 clicks either way from where it is.
