Default High idle

Hi, Its been awhile, The car has been running great, its a 69 350 with auto. I have not driven it in about 3-4 weeks, I went out today and it started right away but it was idleing veery high, about 1300rpms, it would not kick down I ran it for about 15min, and still high. I checked and everything seems to be moving freely. I looked at the idle set screw and its not even touching. any advice. Thanks

Check your choke linkage to see if something is hung up. If your idle adjustment screw is not even touching then something is holding your throttle open.

I recently solved this same problem on my 69 427 with factory q-jet carb which is the same setup as yours. The tip on my idle screw also was not touching anything. You can check out the thread I started. I had to alter my choke coil bracket. After doing so the rod that attaches from the choke to the carb had more movement. Try this, after your engine warms up disconnect the chocke rod from the carb then punch your throttle. If the rpm does not go down disconnect your throttle. One of these two places should help you.

Thanks, I'll take a look at both.
