Anyone near St Charles, Illinois
I am a newbie to Corvettes and am planning to purchase a 1969 that is in the St. Charles, Illinois. I have looked at the car and it looks great to me but want to get someone more familiar to check it out before moving forward.
The specific things are related to the drive train, this is a 350, 300 hp with AT.
1. It has a pretty good pop when going between forward to reverse, possibly just need to adjust the idle down but could be u joints or something more serious.
2. Trailing Arms and bushings - the shims on the drivers side are loose, not sure if this means other problem or if an alignment would take care of the issue.
3. Rear Wheel Bearings . there is a little play in both wheels when rocking the wheel with hands at 12 and 6 or 3 and 9. This seems about the same in all directions on both sides.
I have heard the horror stories and don't want to be one. Would rather spend a little to make sure I am getting the right car. If there are some shops in the area you could recomend would be great too, I may be able to get the owner to take it by a reputable shop.
My email address is kenneth.harbin@gmail.com
Thanks,
Kenneth

I was looking for one of the independent inspectors in the area but thought there might be someone on the forum who knows these cars well and has done their own restoration who would be willing to take a look for me. Main concerns are rear suspension (trailing arms, spindels ...) and drive line. If you know a good shop in the area that would be great too, I am sure I could get the owner to take it over.
Thanks,
Kenneth

good luck !!
Sounds perfect.
I bought mine, WAY up north, near the Wisc border.
I had the work done at a place in Lake Villa that specializes in Vette's. they did the exauhst work fast, and so far so good. Its all custom, too.
Place is called, Perfomance Auto(Lake Villa)IL.
For a good evaluation, I would call around to some places and use the forum to reach out to some independant places. That is your best bet. Ebay has a motors site, that has a national company who probably has something close by St Charles. Maybe worth a quick look.

Thanks for your help!
One of the guys in the CCC refered me to Frank at Total Power & Performance in St Charles. The seller took the car over this afternoon and we finalized the deal, hope to have the car in a week or two.
