80-82 air dam repair
Need some advice from any owners of 80-82s who have repaired their front air dam. I am going to replace my damaged front air dam on my 80. However, the center bracket that supports the dam has been pushed back about 1 1/2" from where it should and probably about 1" higher due to contact with curb sometime in the past. What is the best way to get this bracket realigned if possible or should I cut it and start over. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Normally you can bend these brackets back in position with your hand. They are not that stout and thank goodness for that. If you can’t move it by hand, then try a pry bar on it. You should be able to bend it back in position pretty easily.

Does yours look as bad as this one?
The funny part is that the owner of the car had NO IDEA that it WASEN'T supposed to look like this!!! He also swore up and down that it didn't run hot at highway speeds!!!!!!!!!!!
The support brackets were so bent up that I ended up having to use a small "porta-power" to jack the bracketry back into position.

Mine was bent and would not straighten by hand. As you try to pry it back into place, be careful. I put a peice of pipe on mine and started pulling it toward my head as I lay on the ground, then suddenly...
