Default Ignition Switch Rod

I purchased a rebuilt T&T steering column. I think the ignition switch rod is in the wrong location. It looks to me that it should be routed through the indention at the dash mounting bracket shown by the red arrow.[/IMG] Can it be repaired without disassembling the entire column?

I just did a total rebuild of my T&T column this past weekend, it looks perfect where it is at. Then the switch fits right on top.
