Chambered mufflers aren't very complicated. It's hard to make them wrong. I don't see a problem with them from what I saw so long as they match your exhaust system diameter.

I just bought a 77 coupe with those similar mufflers on it. The motor is all stock, stock manifolds etc. They sound pretty good it you want that old 60's muscle car sound thats not to loud. I like them but they could be louder.
Not a bad deal though!
Good Luck

Default Chambered Exhausts

I have a set of Mid-America chambered exhaust on my 72 350... with headers and 9:3 compression. And they ARE loud. Comparing to a friend of mine who has exactly the same setup just with ram-exhaust manifold instead of headers (and is not loud at all), it seems like the exhaust manifold makes the difference.

However I love'm... beautifull, mellow tone at lower rpm without load (to sneak away from cops or neighbours) but a real sporty, race-car sound if you push it harder. The increase in diameter from 2 to 2,5" got the tone deeper, too... some friends initially asked me if I had swapped for a big-block

Regards,
Thomas

Default do you like the look ?

Problem I have with them is the way they look. C3 Vettes have very visible cans. To my eye it looks wierd to see straight pipes, or cherry bombs, or these skinny thingies hanging back there.
But, hey, if you're OK with the looks, go for it.

I can see where your coming from. So do you have any suggestions?

I am using some that are very similar to those for sidepipes and yes they can be loud.
