It's official.. I'm in the 9's on my first pass in the 1/4 mile with the new setup
After only making four 1/8 mile passes with the new setup, I went to South Georgia Motorsports Park today. Temperatures were nice in the low 60's which was pretty good weather for the South..
I didn't change anything on the tuning (and I knew that I was running rich and the timing was only at 32 degrees). Just wanted to see what the car would run with the same setup that I ran the 1/8 mile. The run started out horribly.. The brakes wouldn't hold the car and this got me staged very deep.. I focused on getting my RPM to launch RPM (4000 RPM footbraking) but as the car started moving forward, I took off.. Of course that resulted in a horrible R/T but I was not even trying to cut a good light. Then I hit the REV limiter before my 1 - 2 shift for a moment but still ran 9.94.. After my first run, I changed jets to run a little leaner and tried again.. However, the street cars that went down the track while I was changing jets dumped some sand and there wasn't too much VHT in the first place.. Went sideways on my 2nd run and went totally off the gas.. Decided to get on it again just before the 1/8 mile.. Of course I ran horribly slow, but my mph went from 42.94 in the 1/8 mile to 131.05 in the 1/4 mile
Decided to call it a day as I already had my 9 second pass and went home.. The track wouldn't allow any faster runs anymore.. The car beside me was a mid 9 second car and he only got a 1.671 60' time..
Here's my 9 second timeslip
Here's a Youtube video
I also have a high quality larger video but it's 10 MB and requires DIVIX player..

Congrats Ollie !! Been working at it for a while. Get that 60 down a bit and that thing will run 80's for sure.
Is it time for the nitrous yet ??

Next Sunday is Runday Sunday and that means racing from 9 AM to 5 PM... I will try to intstall the 3.73 spool in this week.. I'll also order new 28 inch tall slicks and if I'll get everything installed by Sunday, I will start spraying.. I'll start with a 100 or 150 shot and depending on the results, I will increase the size of the shot.

CONGRATULATIONS OLLIE!!
FEELS GOOD TO HAVE IT ON PAPER DOESN'T IT?????
Looks like it's all going to come together. Going to be a good race season this year!!
Picking up almost 27mph on the back side is pulling hard.
Top end pull is fun isn't it!!

Feels great!! I probably won't race the '68 all that much as my bracket car is the '92.. I might only run 2 - 3 major events and some test&tune this year.. If the weather works out, I will try the nitrous next Sunday..

Allright!! A nine scond pass on motor. Now we're talkin. The MPH shows that you're making good power. A little dialing in and you'll be close to mid nines on motor. A little giggle gas and you will be posting an 8 second slip.
Time for that competition license and chassis sticker.
Before you try the nitrous be sure to test the track with a good motor pass first. You can see how fast that thing can get out of shape, now with serious power.
Rember, safety first. Good luck.

Great advise, small tires and lots of power can make a dicey ride.

Just a suggestion on tire size.
A 27" tall tire with 3.73 gears should put you in the same RPM range as you are in right now at around 136 MPH. Hoosier and Mickey Thompson have a couple of tire choices in the 27" tall size.
A 28" tall tire would be ideal for a nitrous pass at around 145 MPH.
