Correct clutch fork pivot ball stud?
I'm in the process of changing my clutch and decided to replace the pivot ball stud along with the a new clutch fork arm as well. ---- I ordered it from one of the Corvette suppliers which shows it for 56-81 applications. --- However it is approx. 3/16" taller then the original. -- Should I not be concerned or should I keep looking for the exact length of the one that I removed from the belhousing.

Hmmm..It sure would be nice If what they sent was the exact dimensions as your original!
Ill Bump your thread , and comment that I remember reading a thread where stock GM ball studs changed lengths Slightly for some reason. You can send the one you got back and request the "short One". Hopefully someone will chime in that knows the whole scoop.
Also, the threaded Linkage rod connecting to your Stock fork is for adjusting clutch release distance in relation to the amount the pedal is pushed.
My Centavos worth is , 3/16ths longer would be compensated for when you make the final adjustments for clutch release. But Im not sure about that.

There are two TO bearing heights and pivot *****. Corvette usually use the 1.25 tall TO. Also you should stick to the same height pivot stud as already in there otherwise you could run out of adjustment room at the threaded linkage rod. My .02

Here is what I found in my parts catalog.
Clutch housing ball stud.
55-65 #3729000 1 1/2
66-75 #3887159 1st design 1 3/8
75-81 #3729000 2nd design 1 1/2
Notice the 75 could have either
T/O bearing
64-81 908244 1 1/4
These numbers are for diaphram clutches

Be very concerned! If your replacing with the same type clutch and same type throw out bearing , you better have the exact same pivot ball or you will run into a lot of headaches.............

The taller ball gives you more adjustment towards the firewall on your Z-bar.
I have the lakewood blow proof bell housing and I actually had to get the tallest GM pivot ball to make it work.
3/16 is such a small amount
