Default Have I chosen a suitable cam or made a mistake?

I've been wrestling with myself over this cam choice ever since I installed it.
Here's the engine specs

69 427 L36
9.5 to 1 Silvolite cast pistons .028 down from deck
Cast iron stock oval port heads 104cc
Stock alum manifold
Q-Jet, Stock dist with points
2" Allen's stainless exhaust
M-20 trans with 3.08's

Cam specs for Lunati 302A4LUN hyd flat tappet
112 LSA
.515 lift at valve with CC roller tipped 1.7 rockers
.217 in / .217 ex @ .050

I was looking for low end torque as I rarely shift over 4000 rpms. I keep thinking I could have chosen better, your opinions?

Surely with a big block the 2" exhaust is a typo,. I think with the smaller
exhaust valves of the oval port heads you should have went with a
dual pattern cam, and even though you shift at 4000 the majority of the time I would still kick up the duration on the intake some for
more midrange, 427 big block will always have good low end torque.

Well, you'll definitely have low end TQ....but I agree...that's not usually a problem with a 427. Even for a mild motor...I'd have added about 15-20* of duration and about .100 lift.

LM - he is talking about 2 inch primary piped headers. Which is mild for a BBC.

High 220's to low 230's makes a very mild cam for a BBC. My original 427 had a 242/248 solid roller and I was able to lug it around in 4th gear
