Default 1980 Accessory Pulley questions

How many grooves should there be on the water pump and crank pulleys? My AIM says three each. My car has a 2 groove on the water pump currently, but it's out of round and needs replaced. This winter I'm putting the Smog pump on my car and think I need the third groove on the water pump to make it all work. I can't find anyone that even sells a 3 groove short water pump pulley.

The AIM also shows the that the most forward groove on the crank pulley should be smaller and connected to the P/S pump. Is that correct, because that's not what is on my car. From memory, all three grooves are the same diameter.

Can anyone provide me with any pictures of the correct pulley set up with the smog and A/C connected.

Thanks.

I have a 80 and will check. A couple of yrs. ago I installed Spal electric fans and done away with the air pump. If memory serves me right its only a 2 belt pulley with seperate single pulley bolt on addition to make it 3. At work right now so it won't be till late this evening till I can check.

I am gonna say it is three (crank) and three (water pump) but my memory could be foggy.

Does the second pulley slip over the center of the 2 groove pulley to create the third row? Is the third row pressed up next to the now middle row?

I'm so confused by this because I can't seem to find anything to document it.

Thanks for clearing this up. I now know that I have more problems than and out of round pulley. I also have the wrong size. Mine is a 7 1/8" OD pulley based on the part number. I should have a 6 1/4" OD pulley stock. So, would this explain why my alternator seems to be on the high side of the voltage range?
