Default 470 Hp 406ci

I am doing a frame on restoration over the winter and I have a friend who thinks I should drop a 406 that he builds and sells. My question is he claims the engine will bolt up exactly the same as the 350 that is in there now, however will the stock drive train handle the added 170hp or am I talking more dollars over and beyonf the engine.

It will bolt up fine. You should be okay so long as you make sure all the U-joints are good and you don't already have any rear end suspension or differential problems.

Expect to spend a bunch. Depending on the existing condition of your drive train,as well as radiator to say the least.

My website has quite a bit covered as far as what you'll run into.

You'll need a different harmonic and flywheel (or flexplate). The 400 uses the harmonic and FW to help balance the crank and are "externally balanced,..not internally balanced like your 350. Other than that, bolt it up,..good swap. 470 HP should be ok on the drivetrain with street tires.

Good luck!
