I went back and forth between Magnas and Flow Masters a few times.

I found that I really like the Magnas better and I even had specific performance gains using them on my Durango.

I first had the Flow Masters, and was happy with them until someone else mentioned they too had them and switched to Magnas. I switched, and was also very happy. It felt stronger and to me even sounded better.

To each their own, and you will find huge camps for both sides...

...but my vote is Magnaflows.

You want loud, raspy ground shaking sound...go with Flowmasters. If you want a deep, throaty rumble, go with Magnaflow.

I have Magnaflows on two cars...had Flowmasters on a different car...I like the Magnaflow sound better, but both give great performance.

I love the Magnaflows on my '76. Corvette Central sells ones that are made for C3s. Both pipes are welded to the muffler, just like the factory mufflers. Fit is perfect...............

Between the 2, I'd go Magnaflow. Got 'em on mine - good balance of sound and power.

I had MagnaFlow on my warmed over L48 and loved them. When I dropped the 406ci in I tried the FlowMaster ( drum roll on a tin can ) and DynoMax Super Turbos ( a little bit better sounding drum roll on a tin can ) and then I went back to MagnaFlow and they sound great, I mean real good I love them, enough experimenting and wasting money, I'll never put another brand muffler on anything other than MagnaFllow

I bought a set for my 73 based on all the good comments I found when I did a search on Magnaflow and liked the way they bolted on.
Haven't had the pleasure of hearing them yet...can hardly wait!

Hello,
I am rebuilding a 73 and plan on putting Magnaflow mufflers on them when I am ready for that. From being on line and reading previous posts on the forum they seem to have a better response comment when being compared to Flowmasters.

Hate is a strong word. Any insight as to why you feel you hate them? Just tell us how you REALLY feel.

looking to put magnaflows on my '72. How was the sound inside the cabin of the magnaflows vs the flowmasters?

Here's a link for a soundclip (lower right corner of the page) on Corvette Central website for both acceleration and interior.

Do they really sound like this? I thought the interior seemed a little loud. Since you had both, your opinion is greatly appreciated.

Well, the biggest difference is that mine are in my Durango and yours will be in your Vette. Interior resonance was almost nothing, but you could feel and hear the deep beautiful gurgle of the V8. I preferred it a lot over the Flowmasters, which DID resonate a lot. I just did not like the Flowmasters when compared to the Magnas.

Here's some vids, my 78 when the motor was mostly stock running Dynomax Ultra Flos (sound very similar to Magnaflows) and my friend's 70 Camaro.

The 78 was running dual exhaust with cats and a stock GW350 (very similar to an L48.)

The Camaro is modified, moderate cam, AFR 195 heads.

If you want loud and annoying get Flowmaster 40 they come with a very nice drone inside the car at 1500 rpm

If you want a nice mellow rumble that sounds great going down the highway, but really are loud at WOT.
Get the Magnaflow's.
