SLP is the OEM manufacturer of that wheel and makes it in chrome or painted "hyperblack" as a direct fit for C3's. Mid America and Corvette Central both carry these wheels or you can get them directly from SLP.

I have a 98 SS Camaro that I took the wheels off of to put on some TTII's. They are 17x9 "ZR1" wheels and have the stock 275-40/17 tires on them. Would these fit on my 80 or would I need smaller rims (17x8) and tires (255-50 17)?

Bumping an old thread after a search, maybe someone can confirm my question.

Can C3's run 17" (or 16's for that matter) wheels that were designed for third gen F-bodies without any spacers or adapters?

I remember seeing one poster's avatar with what looked to be 16" IROC wheels on a blue chrome bumper 'vert, but I don't remember his name.

Many thanks.

Not exactly sure what backspacing the 3rd Gen Camaraos run, but you'll need adapters for the 4th Gen Camaro wheels. SLP sold those 17x8's fauxrs is running with 4" of backspacing specifically for early cars like ours. Late model stuff run more like 7" of backspacing.

They look good, if you run 9 1/2" in the back you'll need to move them out a bit. I used wooden blocks in place of the spacers to mock it up before I ordered the billet aluminum spacers.

After looking around, SLP and Ecklers both sell the ones like above listing the C3 along with the 82-92 F-bodies. The guy with the IROC wheels was markdtn (or something close to that). In one of his posts, he mentioned having to run all fronts since there was different backspacing, apparently, but SLP and ecklers list a set of 4 of the ZR1's all the same for f-bodies and C3's.

Color me tempted. I currently have a set of 15" Ansen knockoffs made by Progressive on my '81. I like them, but you have to run a very thin spacer (like less than 1/8") to clear the calipers, which I don't particularly like, but given the minimal effect, I could probably live with until I get everything else done to the car that I want to do.

There was a guy running with scca that had the third gen firebird 16" wheels on his 76 with no spacers. They were the same ones I had on my 89 formula. I believe he said he was running 4 fronts also.

I have tried to run my dad's "true" ZR-1 wheels on my 73, but even the smaller 9.5" would not fit on the rear with the VB&P 3" adapters. The inside of the wheel was hitting the end of the spring and the ebrake bracket. I dont' think there woudl be anyway to get the 11" wheels on there without the offset trailing arms. BTW my dad has a 90 Z with factory 95 A-molds on it. I was running low on tires at an autocross and he had two spares sitting there. So i tried to fit them on, but wasn't able to at the event.

I currently run the 84-87 16X9.5" Corvette wheels on my autocross car with the VB&P 3" adapters.

I am running those in my '91 C4. They have 6.875" backspacing. Stock backspacing in all 88-96 C4 17x9.5 wheels is 7.4".

So with the Camaro 5-spokes 2.5" adapter brings the backspacing pretty close to C3 stock BS.
