New Member, new vette owner and quick question
Hello C3 forum,
I have been and long time reader and now that I have finally bought a vette I have officially joined the forum and want to say a big hello!
Last friday I picked up my matching numbers L48 1979 corvette.
You can see the pics here: http://www.geocities.com/c3vette1979/index.html
And for all you eagle eyes there yes that is a silver aniversary badge on the hood. A previous owner had a preference for them and put them on a couple of years ago. (I have the reciept to pin point when they did it)
Anyway my question comes from my paranoid side and from reading previous threads about dodgy wiring being a potential fire hazard while your car is sleeping in the garage. I believe the saftey precaution is to disconnect the battery. Now my question is (you ll have to forgive the lameness of this question because I am not in any way mechanically minded) do you have to:
A) disconnect both the positive and negative leads from the battery
B) disconnect only the positive lead from the battery
c) disconnect only the negative lead from the battery
d) disconnect either lead from the battery
Regards,
Frank

Welcome to the forum!! I disconnect the negative side when I won't be driving it for a while. When I put it awy for winter, I take the battery out and either trickle charge it or wait until spring and charge it for a couple of days.
Hope this helps!
Nice car too :seeya

Many of the catalog companies sell a quick disconnect switch for your battery. You screw it onto the negative terminal of the battery and then the battery cable goes directly to it. I use one and it take 2 seconds to disconnect the bayonet style lever. If you can't find one in the catalog, email me off line and I will give you the address and phone number.

Wow, must be a foreign car. Right hand drive????
What's it like driving on the opposite side?
Are the motor compartment components swapped too?
Nice Ride.

Yes it is a foreign car,
I live in Western Australia, Australia.
Here you can register your car left hand or right hand drive.
I can't relly tell you what it deels like to drive a right hand drive car because thats what I have always driven. But when I test drove left hand drive cars it wasn't a drama. You just have to adjust where you r new blind spots are. I would have bought a left hand drive (and not have had to worry about the quality of the conversion ) but in Western Australia you have to take your car over the pits every year if it is LHD.
As far as are motor components swapped i am not sure but what I will do is chuck some pictures of the engine bay so you can see.

Sounds like you got your question answered but just wanted to welcome you . I'm pretty new to the forum too. I have a red '70 and love it! My wife has an aunt and uncle that lives near Queensland. They own a large ranch there.
