Don't know about the oil idea--read the directions on the can... just don't drink it. Click and Clack also mentioned its medicinal benefits (my mechanic listens to them as a part of his continuing education program.) When you pour it down the carb, be ready for billowing smoke--used to be a great trick at weddings when carbureters ruled.

just did this a couple of nights ago actually. half can down the carb, and half can in the oil.
it made a ton of smoke, and it may have helped the carb too, but its too early to tell. before i dumped it down my carb, i had some pretty bad hesitation and diesling. aftewards, the hesitation was almost gone and it didnt diesel at all. could have just been a complete coincidence though.

You can add it to your oil too. Just add it as if you were adding oil; through the oil fill cap and not the dipstick tube. I never had the billowing white smoke problem but then again my car is fuel injected with a cat converter. Don't know if that's the reason.

i seafoamed mine last november
put 1/3 in tank, 1/3 in the crank case
and ran engine for 15 minutes then took the last
1/3 and let it suck in through the brake vacuum connnection
until the engine quit.
let the car sit for 15 more minutes then started it up
and ran it until the smoke stopped.
once that was done i changed the oil and did the
tune up.
it is supposed to decarbon the whole top end when you run
it through the vacuum port and when in the oil it supposed to help
degunk any build up which is why i changed the oil right away.
i dont think i would run it any real length of time with it in
the crank case.

You can get it at places like Pep Boys and Kragen.

actually no it doesnt, dumping it down the carb doesnt give
you im not even sure if this is right but i guess it would
be called "even dissipation" in the intake to each cylinder.
dumping it down the carb one cylinder may get more than another.
all i did with mine was pull the hose off of the power brake booster
and let it suck the seafoam in through there until the engine quit
and then let it sit for 15 minutes and proceeded as stated in my other post.

So that would mean air/fuel mixture also travels to one cylinder more than the other? Hmmm
When you dump it down the carb, it should go to each cylinder evenly as though it were the air/fuel mixture itself during each intake stroke.

Is sea foam used for a top end cleaning (decarb?)
If it is be sure and change your oil when you are done. it will be shot. If this is for a top end cleaning, I've heard that water...and other products do the same thing. but poor it slowly. If this isn't what the product is used for please let me know.

this is exactly what im saying , if you do a little research on the web
you will find what im talking about.
by going through the brake vaccum port on the back of the carb
you will get even distribution of the seafoam to ALL cylinders.
