They're not quite Candy Apple red though. That paint was popular years ago....usually at the custom car shows. CandyApple Red and Candy Apple Red Metallic were so popular in fact is got to the point that you'd say "Oh Yeah there's another Candy Apple Red":(
I haven't seen one in years. It is a beautiful color though. One of my perenial favorites.

I don't think you will be able to 'see' the candy in Candy Apple red in pictures over the web. The candy paints have depth and clarity beyond any normal paint.
The best idea may be to go look at some hot rods and try to find a candy.
The 'World of Wheels' show quite often has some.
The problem is it is SO hard to paint a candy (if the painter is not VERY good at candies you get Zebra striping and other crap that can only be fixed by stripping the paint off and starting again) and so expensive that only show cars usually have it. It is also a lot harder to touch up...
House of Kolor makes a Kandy Base Koat paint that is a lot cheaper to paint and looks almost as good, might want to check it out.

"Candy apple red" has kinda become a misnomer over the years. CAR is really a transparent paint. I've seen it sprayed over a solid yellow base and it looks awesome.

Are the candy-colors becoming popular again? Love-em. I seen a candy-apple green '57 Chevy at a cruise-in a couple of months ago and a candy-apple red early '50s Ford pickup truck a week-or-so ago.

Mine is close to candy apple red. Maybe it'll give you an idea of how a C3 would look.... :)

Hi Sharkgills (cool name  ) ,
I don't now the exact color as it was painted long before I bought the car 5 years ago. All I know is that the car was first painted gold, then had the red sprayed over top of it. You can see from the pics that under different lighting, the color looks different. I wish I could be more accurate, when it comes time that I'm ready for some new paint, I hope I can have it replicated ;) .
