Default What oil filter are you BB guys using?

I know everyone has their own opinion on this but I was just curious to know what oil filter you guys are using on your big block cars and why that brand? I see K&N makes some oil filters but are they any better than Wix, AC, etc.....

WIX 50061. It's still "full size", not like the AC Delco 1218 that suddenly shrunk.

Amsoil SDF 24

Most all full flow oil filters are designed to flow well enough to supply oil upon start up with good maintenance. They are limited on the size particle they will filter due to the needed oil flow at start up; this is why most all full flow filters will only filter down to around 25 microns. The important issue is the filters capacity and its ability to hold its contaminants during start up and shut downs. Not an easy task for the paper element filters that are common over the counter filters.

Superior filtration claims mean nothing when the oil isn't going thru the filter. By over-filtering to partilce sizes below which are relevant to engine wear, many filters can cause the by-pass to open under high-performance driving conditions, leaving you with periods of absolutely zero filtering when it's most critical. None. Zip. Nada.

Just something to think about next time you step hard on the loud pedal with a sub-20 micron filter "protecting" your engine.
