When we were kids on our push bikes we would "collect" plastic rubbish bin lids and put them on the road. Work up a bit of speed and then lock up the back wheel on the lid for a loooong speedway slide. Closest we get to snow on the road.
Don't know if you have been getting it on the news but here in Aus we have been having a record drought with the worst bushfires in 20 years. Temps in the high 30's (celcius) for days and the smoke has been blowing across the city of Melbourne, much worse than LA's smog.
Got the forecast for Christmas on the radio and it is for SNOW on the ranges where the bushfires are. Much needed.
I think we need Lars to come out and hotrod the firetrucks so the firefighters can have some fun in the snow.
They have been working too hard and we even have some New Zealand firefighters over to help out. They sure could do with a break.
Best wishes to Lars, Donna and Jenna.
James

Hey Les - You guys do weird things with Vettes in the winter up there in Canada...like skipping them across open water areas of ice covered lakes and high-speed moose hunting, etc... How "aboot" you post some pics of that, eh?
Hi Jim!! Good hearing from you! Actually, we got more snow down here in Denver that we did on the other side of the "Tunnel" because of the upslope condition. We have better skiing in downtown Denver than in Beaver Creek right now! I just ran a snowboard from the peak of my roof into the front yard...!!!
Hey, Flood... you're right here and you can verify what we're doing... Bring the Vette on down and we'll hook a rope up to it..! (Awesome video: C3 versus C4 in the Ultimate Snowboard Challenge!!)
You're right on, dude. The jump wasn't quite hi 'nuff for major air.. like, dude, it was flat, like. With the Vette doin over 30 mph, we got, like, major distance, but, like, dude, the toedal air didn't get any better. Right on, dude! We need to re-build the jump to get more air! And more Nog, man! TOEDALLY!!

Looks to be safer than climbing a mountain in winter with minimal provisions.

Snow???? What snow????
Lars,
I agree with James. It's been stinking hot here for weeks, but rain came yesterday! Now it's cool (about 20 C) and we have to slip a shirt on. I have the family coming over for Christmas lunch tomorrow (Sunday) and it looks like I'll have to cook.
Normally, Christmas Day is so hot here that we have cold meat and salad and lots of cool drinks and don't wear a lot of clothing, but now that things have cooled down, I'll make Christmas lunch a bit more "traditional".
And I'll be thinking of all my Corvette friends having fun in the snow and freezing their butts off.

I would have hoped that some of our Finnish,Swedish, members would have had comments. I would imagine their cold weather situations are more severe. As for the Ozzies you have my sympathy, I know that in the outback things can really get out of control. Th ghost gum trees, and related species, can really almost be explosive in the bush fire season.
