Default ZR-1 Wheels

I can get a set of ZR-1 wheels off a Camaro for a real good price and was wondering if they would fit. i figure they would need spacers so i was hopeing you would know what size i would need. also if anyone has any pics of a c3 with zr-1s please post, id like to see what its gonna look like. thanks in advance guys.

Okay, two things to look at. First is bolt pattern. Know what it is. I don't off the top of my head, but I don't remember them being the same as a Vette.

Next is spacing, as it has a totally different offset. To clear everything you will need at least a 1.5" spacer. A 1.25" spacer would be comfy and allow for any tire shoulder room.

Ebay is the best place to look. Most sellers of spacers make theirs, so even if you don't see one thick enough for you...email a few of them asking if they can make the spacer correctly. Expect to spend just under $200 for all four.

Search Ebay Motors using 'Corvette Spacer' and you'll see pages of them.

Also ask the sellers if the studs on the spacers are metric or standard. It's fine either way, you just need to know what size lugs to buy.

don't get spacers unless they are the Vette Brakes & Products kind. others are 'dangerous'.

Not true. I have been using spacers on various kinds or cars for five years now with no trouble. The key is getting them torques right, and doing it a few times until the metal has seated properly.

I torque them standard on the first install. Both sets. Then drive it for fifty miles. Then, pull the rims, and re-torque. I did this three times with every car I have installed them on and had NO issues.

VB&P is who you needa call for spacers because they make them specifically for corvettes to use other corvette wheels.

Now what I'd be concerned about on the ZR1 wheels is the fact that they're friggin wide and you may need to flare your wheel wells to accomodate em.

Buy your A-mold wheels (ZR1 style) from Mid-America with the right offset for a C3 Vette and spend about as much as you would for wheels and spacers for the Camaro wheels. Look in their catalog they are selling them. My opinion on wheel spacers: DON'T DO IT! even if they are trouble free, they add so much unsprung weight that they aren't worth it.

Huh? Extra weight? They are aluminum spacers...a pound or so each...that's under ten pounds for the whole car including extra lugs.

They're not the greatest on wheel bearings...but with proper care they are just fine.

That hood is wicked vetteadict. I bet a blower would fit under there just fine. Any problems seeing while driving?

I have had the 17x9 Camaro wheels and VBP spacers on for about 5 years now. I agree with SolidLT1 that this is not the ideal setup, but it can work well with street and occaisional weekend warrior events. I keep a close watch on the bearings and the spacer lugs. I also upgraded to 1/2" studs all around and use the VBP aluminum rotor hubs in the front.

Just a 427 sb soon to be a Vortech SC
I'm running 275 40 17 front,and 285 40 17 out back it is tight with the swaybar,also had 315s x17 for awhile

All chevy cars have a 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern

They will for sure need a spacer of some kind because of the postive baskspace in them ,I don't recall who but someone is make a billet spacer that bolt to the hub,then use's new stud pressed in the spacer.

VB&P makes them, as well as a lot of online Ebay sellers. Do an Ebay search for Corvette Spacer and you'll get hundreds.

Uhm, lets see, he was going to buy a used set of wheels for around $350 plus a set of spacers, for around $300. Me thinks he should buy the correct wheels from Mid America for $699 and live happily ever after with less weight and worries about loose lug nuts.
