Default '75 Alternator bracket

Hi all,

The bracket that holds the alternator to the engine block on my '75 vette snapped last week . I've tried NAPA, autozone etc but no look finding one. zip corvette has them, but they are real expensive considering it's just a cheap looking bracket (80 bucks+). Without having to scour scrapyards does anybody know of a cheap alternative?

Many thanks - craig

I'm not sure which bracket you are referring to, but which ever one it is, try CC or other vendors. I remember seeing such brackets in their catalogs.

Post on the parts for sale/wanted forum, many forum members are likely to have this at a reasonable price.

PM paulywannafly, he's been helping a ton of people recently.

It's not the adjustable bracket - it's the bracket that secures the alternator to the engine block. Thanks for the lead though...

Yeah, if it's that main bracket to the block, that's liable to run a few bucks. You might want to find a used one. Good luck!

I purchased one of the zip units many years ago and there's nothing cheap about it. Solid iron, bolts up perfectly, and has provided good service for many years. I'd buy another tomorrow if I ever needed one. You'll spend $80 in gas trying to track one down one scrap yard at a time not to mention your time.

Default Does your 75 use a short water pump?

If so, find yourself and early 70's pickup cast iron bracket for a pickup. I paid 5 bucks for mine, and that's only because I all I had was a 5, but my buddy had bought for $3.50. Let me see if I can find the casting number.......

here you go...Casting number 3951337. Good thing I typed up my log of modifications....this was done on Nov 19, 1992....so it might cost you 10 bucks at the boneyard.

Craig,

I just emailed you. I also have a 75. My upper bracket broke about 2 weeks ago so I replaced the entire setup with a March alum bracket. You are welcome to this one $30+plus freight. It's in excellent shape.
