I want to build a killer Small Block Chevy.
What should this engine include?
How many cubes and how much HP?

Start with an aluminum bow-tie small block. Go on from there.

In one of Chevy High Performance's mags it had the list of part #'s to build a Nascar SB-2 motor. That gets my vote.

Four hundred and twenty seven cubic inches, of course.

Sleeping in my engine bay under a stock-looking Q-jet and the stock air cleaner. Yep.

Start with a 4.125" bore bowtie block, then get the custom crank, 6" rods, and pistons to make it work out to 427. Maybe one-a-these days....

I'd get on a plane and go see Monty and pick his brain dry about what he would have done differently when he built his Dart tall block stroker 650 hp 427 inch. Then get out the VISA card and get to it. You see he already did the leg work and dyno time.

You also ask the cost - I would have to spread it out over two Visa cards because I only have a $25,000 limit.

Dream or realistic, realistically speaking start with a four bolt main and stroke it to a 383 and
build it to handle a 200 shot of nitrous.

Now yer havin' fun ! :D

I agree, I went to his web site and tried adding up all the money he spent on his motor and kept messing up when I got over 20K.

Can't stay out of this one, since I already built one of the "dream SB's" already back in '95 when strokers where begginning to get on vogue, my next project will be:
aluminum block
aluminum 18º heads (250+ intake ports) w/Jesel shaft roller rocker arms.
titanium valves
aluminum 6.25 connecting rods
Crower ultra light forged steel crankshaft
Forged pistons
Dry sump oil system
Twin Turbo setup, (have to decide on the intake Victor Jr, Miniram, Hogan)
intercooler(S)
Fuel Injection, + alcohol / water injection.
Now this might suprise some of you... but I'm between a 3.00 to 3.25 stroke, which with 4.125 pistons results in 321 to 347 CI.
I love the way the short stroke makes it rev, and if I want more "size" I give the turbo more preassure....1.5 atmospheres would be something like 480 CI....
BB land!!

I have no idea if this is technically possible or if it would add much. I was always a Callaway Twin Turbo fan when they came out. They got nowhere near the PR of the ZR-1. Can you combine the two? Is it possible to make a Callaway Twin Turbo ZR-1?
