I have an '80 with a ZZ3. It currently has some off-brand mini-starter that's failing 2 weeks past the warranty point. (heat is killing it after short trips). I don't care - I'll be happy to get that turd off my car.
Anyway, I need a high quality, reliable mini-starter for a 10:00 CR daily driver with headers. I've looked over a couple pages of Summitt's on-line catalog; they offer all kinds of starters with various reduction ratios, but I still don't know what ratio would be best. I'm trying to stay under $200.00 if possible 'cuz my job sucks! .

ill tell you what you can do my frend all new model trucks with 350 or 4.3 have hi tork starteres and thay bolt right up the only need to make sure that the silnoid? is the same as far as wireing you can by a new one and pay full prise or go to parts yard {junk} and pay half the thing that you have to keep in mind is chevrolet is chevrolet no mater/long as ther moters are the same all a 4.3 is a 350 with only 6 celenders

Stock C4 starter. LT1s are over 10:1. Available most anywhere. I prefer the Delco rebuilt units from O'Reileys or Advance.

YIKES!!! I'm not the "grammer police" type but reading that hurt my head. If I understand what you are trying to say then I would disagree all chevy starter are the same, you have different bolt pattern and different tooth counts. Not sure what the ZZ3 is but I made the mistake of ordering a straight (in line) starter only to find out when I took the old starter out it was drilled only for the staggered bolts. Be advised.

We sell some of the best starters on the market and in the above quote is one very good choice. Why? Because it`s an original GM starter and available most everwhere. Dont purchase one of those fancy aftermarket high dollar so called performance starters, they are of poor reliability and construction.

Another note on the positive of Summit starters is -They don't make them. Simply market them with there name and pass on the savings to you. I personally have a Powermaster from Summit that has given me no trouble, and I'm pretty sure Powermaster makes Summit mini starters. Call and ask them, they'll tell you what you need to know.

Mid 90's S10 4.3 starters fit the large flywheel. Stagard bolt patten. The 88 and up Corvette staters fit the small flywheel. Even bolt patten. I use these starters all the time. I buy used S10 starters for 50. bucks. Just put one in my 69 this past Sat.
