Default Why not synth in the tranny?

Read in a post here recently where someone said they'd read an article that recommended not using synthetic gear oil in a manual tranny. Just wondering why that might be. I changed over to synth in my 4-speed last year and it seemed to me there was a noticable change in the ease with which it shifted.

Same here, and I'm not draining the synthetic for dyno oil.

I think the thinking is that syn lube may leak easier or more.

I've heard synthetic can be a problem for some internal parts in an automatic but I don't recall hearing anything about problems for a manual.

Hmmm. Maybe I misread the post and the writer was talking about autos. . . .

FWIW - the folks at Keisler indicate that the GM Synchromesh fluid actually works better than the synthetics when it comes to shift quality and noise.
